Upcoming GWR competitions: Completed GWR Competitions: The GWR Winter Doubles have ended and Saxons had entered 3 teams: Oh Coche, Massiff Boules and Wanderers All 3 teams have completed their quota of matches for this season. The latest league table HERE All GWR reports 2025 GWR Mixed Doubles Sun 21 st September Venue: RWB: There were no Saxons entries, other than Stephen Roberts entered with a lady from RWB? 2025 GWR Triples Sun 7 th September Venue CPC: Saxons entered 2 teams Kath Satchell, Chris Large and Charles Faulkner also Ian Savage, Stephen Roberts, John Zarola and Alan Shepherd. Kath and partners got into the silver section knockout but then got knocked out in the first round. Ian and partners got into the Gold knockout but then beaten in the first round by a Bath side. 2025 GWR Vets Doubles on Sunday 6th July to be held at The Northey Arms, Box: Stephen R and Pete C entered and won 2 of 3 games in the moning to go into the Gold section knockout competition. We won our first round and then got knocked out by Pete and Bob from the Northey Arms. 2025 GWR Doubles on Sunday 22nd June held at Wootton Bassett: Jenny C and Chris L entered as a pair as did Pete C and Stephen R. Both teams won one game in the morning round robin and were drawn into the silver section afternoon knockout rounds. Both pairs fell at the first hurdle. 2025 GWR Singles and Shooting 1st June, Larkhall, Bath: Pete C entered and won game in the morning round robin which put him in the Bronze section of the knockout competition in the afternoon. Pete lost in the first round against the person he beat in the morning.
The club runs scores competitions on all playing days and these are split between the winter months and the summer months. Other internal competitions are run from time to time such as the Saxons 3-ender We run a singles Challenge ladder. We occasionally play friendly matches There are various local competitions that individuals or teams can enter Some members join Petanque England (PE) and have access to extra regional and national competitions

PE Euro Cup Round 1 2025/2026 Saxons were drawn in the cup round 1 against Bath Grand Cru at Saxons on Saturday 15th November. Joy K, Doug K, Mike W, Charles F, Alan S and Pete C, Saxons won 1 and lost 4 games. Saxons are now in round 1 of the plate competition and and are drawn to play Corsham 2 away.
